silencing the crickets
a shortcut
toward home
झींगुरों को चुप कराते
एक करीब के मार्ग से
घर की ओर




winter sunset
a door opens
inside the mirror
शीतकालीन सूर्यास्त
एक दरवाज़ा खुलता है
दर्पण के अंदर




with a handful of snow
I pat the snowman
dusk -
एक मुट्ठी भर बर्फ से
मैं हिम मनुष्य को थपथपाती हूँ

Emiko Miyashita is serving as a councilor for the Haiku International Association where she has a column of introducing English-language haiku to the Japanese audience at their website. She is a dojin, a leading member of Ten’i, Providence, haiku group lead by Dr. Arima. From January, 2008, she will be judging and appreciating for the ASAHI WEEKLY paper’s English-language haiku column.
